Half-Day Options

Narrowneck

Experience some of the most stunning scenery in the Blue Mountains with some challenging sections to test all riders. Ideal as a full day too.

Narrowneck at Katoomba is a rock plateau which extends several kilometres into the Blue Mountains National park , surrounded by the scenic Jamison and Megalong valleys. No cars are allowed on the track, it is reserved for mountain bikers and bushwalkers. The terrain is undulating, with no long climbs or descents. A couple of short, steep gullies provide excitement and a chance to learn technical skills.

A climb down Taro's Ladders into the Megalong Valley offer the experienced rider additional days riding. The return trip follows the same route and you can look forward to tackling the short technical sections the other way around!

'A Picnic at Hanging Rock' at Blackheath

One of the most gentle rides in the Blue Mountains with views and bush surrounds. Hanging Rock is a fantastic rock feature, perching over the Grosse Valley.

The Oaks Fire Trail

This famous ride has its popularity from the fact that it runs only downhill (well, almost). It is great for families and for people who don't want an adventure to be too adventurous.

This ride starts at Woodford railway station and finishes at Glenbrook railway station, only about 1 hour by train or car from Sydney city. If you come from Sydney by car, you should leave it at Glenbrook and take the train to Woodford, making for a convenient round trip with a vehicle at the end. Otherwise, use the train for the whole journey.

A short distance from Woodford, the fun starts at a gate which keeps cars out. The terrain is undulating and the overall incline is downhill. Short hills are easily negotiated. An Aboriginal site at The Circles or Red Hands Cave and a side tour to a stand of huge Blue Gums at Toby's Glen are interesting places for side trips and breaks.

Mount Hay - ride through the bush on a fire trail to the stunning views from Mt Hay into the Grose Valley (listed for Wilderness Declaration). Leaves from Katoomba, duration: 9.30am- 4.00pm , grade: easy

Mt York - follow one of the historic passes down the western side of the Blue Mountains. Plenty of views, steep ascent at the end. Leaves from Mt Victoria , duration: 1.00pm - 4.30pm (morning date available on request), medium or hard grade rides available. At weekends, lunch at Collits Inn available.

  • All participants are required to read and sign an 'Acceptance of Risk Agreement' prior to the trip.
